Want to get a Spring Cling grip?

A climbing open house is set for May 4, at the Willamalane Center, 250 S. 32nd St. in Springfield. The free event - for all ages - runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Participants will learn tips, tricks and see demos from climbing experts.

Willamalane’s 33-foot high, 41-foot wide climbing wall features steep and expansive terrain for face and crack climbing. There is also a 12-foot bouldering wall. Walls are supervised by certified staff members.

There will be giveaways and raffle prizes with support from Backcountry Gear, Entre Prises, Eugene Mountain Rescue, Evolv, REI and others. In addition, there will be slacklining and competitions for kids.
