Kids can camp on a sailing vessel

It’s more than camping and fishing this summer in Lane County

Ocean WatchLane County 4-H is promoting a summer camp on the 64 foot sailing research vessel, the Ocean Watch thru OSU and the Hatfield Marine Science Center.  Campers will construct an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and learn what it takes to be a 4-H Marine Ambassador at the OSU campus.  Then, campers go to Newport where they live and work at the Hatfield Marine Science Center and on the 64-foot sailing research vessel, Ocean Watch.

Lane County Youth finishing 9th, 10th, and 11th grades are eligible and the camp is open to a limited number of youth. Interested youth must submit an application form by May 24th.  The camp runs from June 30 to July 05 with everything included.  The only cost is a $35 application fee that will be returned if the youth is not selected.  http://oregon.4h.oregonstate.edu/ Registration and scholarship forms are available online or at the OSU Extension Service office, 783 Grant Street, Eugene, OR 97402 or call 541-344-5043 for more information.
