Need a new life jacket?

Lifejacket exchange program is set for June 29th & 30th

Life jacketsPeople who’d like to make sure their life jackets are safe will have an opportunity during the 3rd Annual Life Jacket Exchange on June 29th and June 30th at Cabela’s in the Springfield Gateway Mall. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

If someone has outgrown their life jacket, or if people just aren’t sure, drop by to take advantage of this essential community service. A safety whistle will be attached to each life jacket distributed. The whistle is used as a signaling device to assist persons who may be in distress while recreating in area waterways.

The program is still in need of vest style preservers in youth sizes for this year’s event. People who would like to donate life vests can bring them to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 125 E 8th in Eugene - 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
