New corridor map on sale

McKenzie mapMCKENZIE BRIDGE: The recent release of the McKenzie River Corridor Map has been proven to be popular among boaters and fishing enthusiasts who use the McKenzie River. The map features access points, river miles, rapid names and classes, as well as many useful facts about the area between the headwaters at Clear Lake and the confluence near Harrisburg.

The publication is water resistant and pocket sized. It costs $3.95, and was originally designed to be a larger interpretive piece at boat launches and agency offices. The map’s most unique feature is that it displays the entire 90 miles of the McKenzie River from Clear Lake to the Willamette River outside of Eugene. “Vast interagency collaboration made this possible,” according to Jennifer Velez, a public affairs specialist with the Willamette Forest.

Much of the work that was needed to produce and publish the pocket map was donated; it took nearly a year to develop. “The McKenzie River Ranger District would like to thank the partnering agencies for their efforts to fund and provide creative elements for the original map, as well as local river guides for the input and photos they contributed to the project,” Velez said.
