Driver Cited in Alcohol-Involved Injury Crash

Highway 126 near Belknap Springs

OSP Press ReleaseMCKENZIE BRIDGE: A female driver was cited by Oregon State Police (OSP) related to an investigation into Wednesday afternoon's single vehicle injury rollover crash on Highway 126 near South Belknap Springs Road.

According to Lieutenant Gregg Hastings, OSP Public Information Officer, the investigation indicated alcohol was a contributing factor.

On April 9th, at approximately 4:05 p.m., OSP was notified of a rollover crash with driver entrapment on the Clear Lake Cutoff near milepost 18. An OSP trooper arrived on scene about 50 minutes later and contacted an off-duty Warm Springs police officer who stopped to help.

Subsequent investigation revealed a 2013 Honda Civic driven by Wanda L. Keller, 65, from McKenzie Bridge, was eastbound on Highway 126 passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed. A witness traveling westbound reported having to pull onto the shoulder as the Honda approached. The Honda swerved back to the eastbound lane, hit a dirt berm on the shoulder and launched in the air for 80 to 90 feet before landing and rolling onto its top against a guardrail.

Keller was extricated by Upper McKenzie Fire & Rescue firefighters and transported by LifeFlight to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. Her injuries were non-life threatening. She was cited by OSP for DUII and Reckless Driving.
