Building destroyed in Tokatee fire

Tokatee FireRAINBOW: Firefighters from two districts were on the scene of a blaze Saturday night at the Tokatee Golf Club. The Upper McKenzie Rural Fire Protection District responded with seven firefighters, three engines and a tender. Mutual aid assistance  from McKenzie Fire & Rescue, brought another engine, a tender and eight firefighters to the scene after the fire was reported around 9:14 p.m.

The fire was controlled within about an hour, according to UMRFPD Chief Norm Michaels. Personnel remained on site putting out the hot spots until about 2:25 in the morning.

Michaels said the building and contents were a total loss, with replacement costs for the building and contents estimated at about $400,000.

Destroyed was an equipment shed which housed a shop, an office area, and room for lawn care equipment. The one-story building was approximately 30 wide by 130 feet long.

The roof of an adjacent equipment garage was also ignited by radiant heat from the primary fire. Michaels reported the fire in the garage was quickly extinguished, with damage limited to the roof structure. The cause of the fires is under investigation.
