Repair at the Fair

Fair ad

Lane County Waste Management Division, master recyclers and community volunteers invite fairgoers to the Repair2ReUse Café at the 2015 Lane County Fair, located on the fairway next to the water tent.

Repair2ReUse Cafes encourage and teach community members to repair items rather than discard them in order to reduce waste and help families save the cost of replacing items that can be repaired.

The Lane County Fair Repair2ReUse Café will focus on a different category of goods each day:

·         Wednesday, July 22: garments and jewelry

·         Thursday, July 23: small appliances and power tools

·         Friday, July 24: bicycles

·         Saturday, July 25: sewing machines

·         Sunday, July 26: hand tools

All advice, estimates, instructions, demonstrations and repairs made during a Repair2ReUse Café are FREE.

The Repair2ReUse Café is staffed by volunteers, many of which are professional and retired repairpersons, as well as self-taught hobbyists.

Repair2ReUse is a waste prevention initiative of the Lane County Master Recycler Program in partnership with local repair professionals and community volunteers. Organizations interested in hosting a Repair2ReUse Café, or volunteers interested in staffing a café, should contact Lane County Master Recycler Coordinator Kelly Bell at 541-682-2059 or [email protected].

Monthly Repair2ReUse Cafes throughout Lane County have featured the repair of sewing machines and garments, computers and electronics, small household appliances, bicycles, garden tools and power tools.
