Wildfire Near Potato Hill Closes Highway 20

Around 3:00 p.m. on August 29, a fire was reported on the Willamette National Forest near Potato Hill (approximately milepost 76 on Highway 20.) The fire began on the south side of the highway but has crossed and is burning near Lost Lake, prompting the closure of Highway 20. Willamette National Forest fire crews are responding, along with air resources. The fire is estimated at about five acres and is burning in the 2003 old B&B fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
