One may argue that the resiliency of the Meyer’s General Store and Liquor Store in Blue River can be seen in the nine lives of CC (The Cat) that has taken up residency at the store!

The story of Blue River has been a roller-coaster ride dating back to the mid ‘40’s. During the logging days of the 50’s and 60’s, Meyer’s Store, the Save-A-Way Market, service stations, the Blue River Tavern and the Forest Glen were going strong. Finally, when the highway by-passed them in the mid ‘60’s it had its impact on the development of the central core.

Blue River was bouncing back in the ‘90’s and the early 2000’s, In November of 1991, the Stanley family (with twin daughters Melanie and Melissa) moved from Azusa, California to the McKenzie River Valley with the desire to have a richer and deeper life in the Northwest Wilderness of Oregon! AND in 1992, the Stanley family (Ed and Pat) bought the General Store from Mildred Meyers!

With the support of Mark (Melanie’s husband), Melissa and family, Melanie has taken the reins of the Meyer’s General and Liquor Store to make it a mainstay in Blue River. Make no mistake….Melanie and others are now actively working toward a rejuvenated Blue River, with great things on the horizon!
