History  strongly  suggests  that

the Stage Stop was indeed, a spot where stages stopped  along the McKenzie River trail in the early 1930’s. At that time, the Stage Stop was open for fur trading, with a mercantile store and a few small rooms housing pioneers - like river guide Roy Pruitt and his “painter” mother – Ina! In later years, Steve Roache took over the property and created the McKenzie Deli with a sandwich bar, a pizza oven and video poker.

While this history was being written the Weltch family was being raised in Eugene, Powers and back to Eugene. Patsy (the eldest daughter) began developing her restaurant talents at the Paramount Restaurant (The Busy Bee), the Poor House Tavern and other places (including a business career in R.E.).

Family has always been the central emphasis for Patsy, Valerie, Robin and every member of the extended clan (including her husband – Dale Wilson – in 1998!). Patsy’s goal was and still is providing stability, work, needed finances and care for the entire family (strongly supported by her husband).

Patsy is an example of the American Spirit of thriving in spite of challenges! After buying the Stage Stop in 1998, there were no counters, large tables, an outdoor deck, booths, handicap accessibilities OR a kitchen! Featuring home cooking then and now, Patsy started with only an electric skillet!

Still very much a family enterprise, we highly recommend breakfast and lunch; plus a Thursday night “all you can eat” fish and chip buffet. Located on the McKenzie Highway in Cedar Flat, join them on Sunday – 7 am – 2 pm, Monday – Wednesday – 7 am – 2:30 pm, Thursday – 7 am – 7 pm, Friday – 7 am – 2:30 pm and Saturday – 7 am – 2 pm. Call for further information: 541-741-7907.
