Oregon State Police Report - July 1

June 22: 17:08: Crash, Hit & Run - Hwy. 126E, Milepost 20. Unit #1 rear ended Unit #2 and tried to leave the scene. The driver from Unit 2 followed the suspect vehicle for several miles while honking his horn until Unit 1 pulled over. Trooper arrived on scene and assisted with a driver exchange and issued a citation for the driver of Unit 1 for Failure to Perform Duties of a Driver in Accident With Property Damage. Involved: black Chevy Tahoe, silver/aluminum Buick Lesabre, 56-year-old female.

June 23: 14:35: Driving Under the Influence, Alcohol - Hwy. 126E, Mp. 13. Dispatched to a citizen reported driving complaint. The responding party reported a white Toyota Corolla weaving in and out of its lane, hitting highway construction cones, and driving into oncoming traffic. Located and stopped the vehicle and observed signs of impairment. The driver asked to speak to his lawyer when asked questions about his drinking. The driver was arrested and transported to Lane County Adult Corrections. A blood search warrant was applied for and granted, and the blood samples were transported to Springfield Patrol Office. The vehicle was towed. Involved: 77-year-old male driver.

17:01: Crash, Injury - Mp. 41, Hwy. 126E. Troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash. Both units were able to pull to the side of the road after the crash. Unit #1 was attempting to enter the highway from the shoulder and did not see Unit #2 traveling westbound. Unit #1 struck Unit #2 at an angle. The passenger from Unit #2 was transported for non-life threatening injuries. Both units were towed from damages sustained. Involved: silver/aluminum Toyota Highlander, gold Toyota Camry, 61-year-old female from Brush Prairie, WA, and 71-year-old male from Gresham.

June 24: 05:27: Fish & Wildlife (Non-hunting related) - Marcola Rd, Mp. 2. Received information that a cow elk was stuck on Marcola Rd. A Lane County deputy on the scene advised the elk was dead & contacted OSP, responded and determined it was salvageable. The salvaged meat was donated through the Helping Hands Pantry to a family in need that lived in the area.

June 25: 13:41: Crash, Non-Injury – Hwy. 126E, Mp. 26. Operator of Unit #2 was traveling eastbound when it began to slow and prepared to turn into its driveway. Driver of Vehicle #1 assumed Vehicle #2 was turning left so it began to pass on the right. As Vehicle #1 overtook Vehicle #2, Vehicle #2 turned into its driveway and was struck by Vehicle #1. There were no injuries and neither vehicle needed a tow. Possible it may not have been $2,500 in damages, however still provided a copy of the crash report to both drivers. Involved: gray vehicle, black Nissan Altima, 30-year-old female, 74-year-old male from Vida.
