Shootout sends Two to Hospital

RAINBOW: Gunshots coming from a property off McKenzie River Drive known locally as “The Hive” had serious consequences for the men involved in the incident. According to public records for November 9, authorities were alerted to the incident at 10:49 am by a 911 caller who was screaming that “someone had been shot.”

Up to a dozen police and first responder vehicles responded to the 54700 block of Caddis Lane as more details indicated two individuals had been shooting at each other.

Deputies cleared the property, locating two males with life-threatening gunshot wounds and several witnesses. Both men were airlifted via helicopter from the nearby Tokatee Golf Club and transported to an area hospital for medical care.

Police say the initial investigation determined the injured males were the only shooters. They were known to each other and had involved in a dispute on the property.

In social media comments some people reported hearing yelling and up to 15 gunshots in the area before police arrived. Others believed if may have been a domestic dispute.

At this time, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the identities of the involved individuals until the investigation is concluded, according to the department’s Public Information Officer Tim Wallace.
