Pruning Class
Join the Lane County Master Gardener Pruning Specialists will be teaching the finer points of pruning tree fruits and grapes at Willamalane Adult Activity Center from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on January 27.
Now that grapevines have lost their leaves, they’ll fade into the winter landscape – the perfect time to bring out the pruning shears. Experts advise that January through early March is the ideal season to prune and the majority of wood produced the previous season – about 90% – should be cut back.
Classes will cover proper pruning equipment, important pruning principles and best times to prune. The Master Gardeners say they’re eager to share their knowledge and experience and want the class experience to be fun, as well as educational. People do not need to bring pruning tools to the classes, but you might want to bring your camera for pictures at 215 West C Street in Springfield.
