Dance Party
The Upper McKenzie Community Center is throwing the ultimate throwback bash with a Jukebox Dance Party on Saturday, June 6th. Whether you’re feeling the swing of the ’50s, the groove of the ’70s, or the neon glow of the ’80s, this is the night to shine. Want to hear your favorite anthem? For just $1 per request, you can take over the playlist and get the whole room moving to your track. All proceeds go toward supporting community programs.
A Silent Auction starts at 6 pm, followed by the Dance Party kickoff at 8. Your “ticket” is a Food Bank Donation.
Dress as your favorite decade. The McKenzie High School Photography Class will be on-site to capture professional, prom-style shots of you and your crew.
Tree Watering
The Lane County’s park system includes 4,364 acres of rich natural, recreational and cultural assets at 68 sites across the county’s 4,800 square miles. They’re now asking for volunteers to help water young plants in the restoration area at Hendricks Bridge County Park in Walterville. Crews there have removed invasive blackberry and planted native species to restore habitat but these young trees require watering and extra care through the dry months to get established.
Volunteers are needed once a week between dawn and dusk. No experience is needed – Parks Dept. workers will show people what to do in a task that requires lifting buckets of water. Rewards include a free annual parks pass with 10 hours of volunteer service.
Every bucket counts. Come lend a hand and be part of the long-term health of the park! Interested? Fill out a form at tinyurl.com/mr39w3ny or call (541) 682-2000.
