Art Sale

People are invited to celebrate autumn with members of the McKenzie River Artists Guild as they present their first ever Autumn Art Show & Sale on Friday October 23rd and Saturday the 24th. Fourteen guild artists (along with several guest artists) will display their original works at the Leaburg Fire Training Center, 42870 McKenzie Highway. It will be a great opportunity to browse the wide variety of unique art in the mediums of watercolor, oil, resin, photography, collage, woodwork, pottery, textiles, botanical mixed media, quilling, yard art, and cards.

Hazard Waste

Lane County Waste Management will hold a household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McKenzie High School, 51187 Blue River Drive. Many common household products contain hazardous ingredients. From paints to bathroom cleaners, pool and lawn care products – anything with a caution label that reads Danger, Warning, Flammable or Caustic can become a dangerous pollutant to groundwater and streams when not handled properly. People are encouraged to bring batteries, car cleaners, lawn and garden chemicals, paints and solvents, and other household hazardous waste.

The McKenzie River Chamber of Commerce is inviting residents to a Candidates’ Forum on October 15, at 5:30 p.m. at Ike’s Pizza in Leaburg.

Both candidates for the East Lane County Commissioner seat – Heather Buch and Jake Pelroy – have agreed to participate, offering voters an opportunity to hear directly from each before the November election.

Following the successful format of the Chamber’s 2024 State Representative District 12 Forum, each candidate will have 20 minutes to share their views, priorities and vision for East Lane County without audience interruptions.

After the presentations, attendees are invited to meet the candidates individually, ask questions and discuss the issues that matter most to them.

Whether you’re still deciding how to vote or simply want to learn more about the people seeking to represent our area, this is an opportunity to hear from both candidates in person.
