Eddyville earned the MWL top spot with a 64-34 win over second place Triangle Lake at last weekend’s MWL Tournament at Harrisburg High. Eddyville Charter (21-5) finished the season ranked 12th in the final OSAA State Class 1A rankings and earned a home game with 21st ranked Southwest Christian (13-11), the fifth place team out of the Valley 10 League. Country Christian is representing the Valley 10 League. The Lakers of Triangle Lake (10-15) have the lowest ranking of the First Round, 32nd, and have the uphill task and opportunity to travel to and play the top-ranked team in the State, the 24-2 Union Bobcats representing the Old Oregon League.

All Boys First Round games take place on Tuesday, February 24. The sixteen First Round winning teams will advance to the Second Round, scheduled to commence on Friday, February 27.

The Mt. West League Girls Tournament crowned the Mapleton Sailors Girls as their 2026 Champions. The Sailors earned that distinction with a close, hard fought 41-38 victory over second place Alsea. Mohawk defeated Crow, 48-34, to advance to post season as the MWL third seeded team. Mapleton (18-5) finished its season ranked 16th and will host 17th ranked St. Paul (17-10) the second place Casco League representative in State First Round play.

All Girls First Round action takes place on Thursday, February 25, and Second Round contests are scheduled for Saturday, February 28. Mohawk (20-5) is the State’s 22nd ranked team and will take the road trip to the 11th ranked Mountain Valley League Champion North Lake (19-6) Cowboys. Alsea (19-7) is 23rd ranked and will have the opportunity to travel over the Pacific crest and beyond to 10th ranked Union (18-6), representing the Old Oregon League.
