Make the McKenzie Connection!

Lavender Festival returns this weekend

Girl in lavender fieldWALTERVILLE: Carol and Chuck Tannenbaum will open their lavender farm to the public from July 11th to 13th. During the festival lavender lemonade is available for tasting and lavender infused honey, shortbread cookies and Marion berry preserves will tempt your palate.

Carol had gardened for many years before they started the lavender venture in 2003. In 2011 they celebrated the opening of  a Lavender Labyrinth. It offers a meditative walk through a lavender field beside the beautiful McKenzie River.

The farm’s specialty lavender products include: ‘Grosso’ essential oil and hydrosol, handmade lavender soaps and lotion, organza sachets in various colors, dried floral bunches, colorful ribbon-woven wands, culinary lavender, dried buds and fresh bouquets in season.

The farm is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the Lavender Festival. Items for sale will include u-cut lavender bouquets for $5 that people can cut themselves from over ten varieties. Artisan vendors will be selling handcrafted skin care products, jewelry, knitted scarves and garments, garden art and planters. Food and beverages are available or bring a picnic. Plus there will be a petting zoo to delight kids.  Relax by the river and enjoy live music to soothe your senses.

The farm is located at 40882 McKenzie Highway, between mileposts 15 and 16.
