1,000 ‘pounders’ for Labor Day

Trout on stringerAnglers fishing Leaburg Lake will benefit from an additional 1,000 rainbow trout in excess of one pound each, stocked just in time for the holiday weekend.

Leaburg Hatchery will stock the fish before the long weekend to allow anglers plenty of opportunities to get into fish in the 15-18” range.  This will be the final release of fish into Leaburg Lake in 2014. These fish will fall within the five adipose-fin clipped trout daily bag limit.

Anglers are reminded Leaburg Dam will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic after the holiday weekend because of repair work on the dam.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2, access across the dam will be restricted weekdays from 8 a.m. - noon and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Angler access will not be restricted on the highway side of the lake but anglers will need to consider dam access when planning their weekday fishing activities on the park side of the lake.  Check eweb.org/leaburgdam for updates.
