Fire Restrictions now in effect

All open campfires are prohibited

Additional fire restrictions are in effect on the Willamette National Forest beginning Aug. 8. All open campfires are prohibited, including in campgrounds and wilderness areas. Fire danger is currently ‘very high’ and Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) remains as IFPL III.

🚫 Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire or stove fire, including a charcoal, wood, or coal fire. However, pressurized liquid or gas stoves, lanterns, and heaters that can be switched on and off are allowed.

🚫 Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building or a developed recreation site.

🚫 Operating an internal combustion engine (like a generator); chainsaws prohibited between the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

🚫 Welding or operating an acetylene or other torch with open flame.

🚫 Possessing or using a motor vehicle off National Forest System roads, except when parking in an area devoid of vegetation for 10’ around the vehicle.

✅ Pressurized liquid or gas stoves, lanterns, and heaters that can be switched on and off.

✅ Chainsaws under permit or contract are allowed under the internal combustion engine prohibition before 1:00 p.m. and after 8:00 p.m.

✅ The Huckleberry Flats and Santiam OHV areas remain open to motor vehicle use.
