McKenzie Fire & Rescue responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Hwy. 126 & Greenwood drive at 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13th. Crews arrived to find the truck and both trailers heavily damaged and off the south side of McKenzie Hwy.

The driver of the truck self-extricated and was at a nearby residence. He was transported to the hospital to be checked out

Truck was hauling 11,000 gallon of gasoline and both tanks leaking.

McKenzie Fire/Rescue contacted Eugene/Springfield Fire’s Haz Mat team for response, once they arrived, they were able to stop the larger leak and contain the smaller one to a portable pool.

The trucking company hired a HAZ MAT clean up company out of Prineville which will remove the remaining fuel from the tanks and will be working with DEQ to remove the contaminated soil from the spill.
