Leaburg Dam Road to be closed to traffic

EWEB logoWildish Construction will close the Leaburg Dam to all vehicle and pedestrian access starting on Monday, August 25th. The work is expected to take about three days, but could last until Thursday and Friday if unforeseen issues come up.

People who regularly walk or drive across the dam should be prepared for a full week of closures – on weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If Wildish finishes removal of the bulkhead earlier, the Eugene Water & Electric Board will notify nearby residents.

EWEB had expected some work to occur the week of Aug. 25, but in late July did not anticipate there would be full dam closures.

Due to scheduling conflicts between Wildish and EWEB’s hoist contractor, Knight Construction, the weekday closures will begin on Monday.

In addition, Knight Construction will again close the dam’s bridge on weekdays starting on Tuesday, September 2nd. The weekday closures (8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) are expected to continue through October 10th.

McKenzie Fire & Rescue has been apprised of the upcoming closures and will station emergency vehicles on the left bank during the closures.
