Carmen Bridge closure

For a seismic retrofit

February 8, 2024

The Willamette National Forest has issued a temporary closure order for a portion of Forest Road (FR) 2600-730. This closure order will be in effect from February 12 to 15, or until rescinded.

Officials report the temporary closure order was issued for public safety while Eugene Electric & Water Board (EWEB) conducts construction for a seismic retrofit on the Carmen Access Bridge. The closure will extend on both sides of FR 2600-730 from the junction of Highway 126 for approximately 0.25 miles, including Carmen Bridge, and up to the junction of FR 2600-730 and 2672655.

Access to Blue Pool and other recreational sites will be limited during the official road closure and bridge construction. The public is advised to observe the closure for safety purposes and to expect limited access to recreational sites during this time due to snow that could impact alternative routes.

Visitors are encouraged to “know before you go” and exercise caution in hazardous weather and on roadways that may have snow and ice or heavy equipment traffic. For current conditions, contact the McKenzie River Ranger Station at (541) 822-3381 or view website alerts at https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/willamette/alerts-notices
