McKenzie Varsity Sports Schedule This Week

The McKenzie Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball teams travel to Mapleton on Tuesday, February 6. The Boys' game tips off at 5:30 pm and the Girls' game follows at 7:00 pm. The two Eagle teams travel to Alsea on Thursday, February 8; with the Boys' game slated for a 5:30 pm start and the Girls' game to follow at 7:00 pm. McKenzie will travel to Triangle Lake on Saturday, February 10. The Girls' game is scheduled to begin at noon and the Boys' game will tip off at 1:30 pm.

McKenzie Girls Fall To Eagles, Lakers

The Eagle Varsity Girls basketball team dropped a couple of Mt. West League games last week, losing to Eddyville Charter, 24-58, on Tuesday, January 30, and to Triangle Lake, 13-48, the following Saturday, February 3. Both losses came at home in Finn Rock. McKenzie did pick up a forfeit win from Siletz Valley, originally scheduled on Thursday, February 1. The win was the second of the season for the Eagles, the first a 32-29 victory also over the Warriors of Siletz Valley in Finn Rock on January 11. First-year McKenzie Girls Head Coach Heather Holte's team is currently 2-8, 2-16 on the season, and has four regular season games remaining.

McKenzie Boys Lose Three Last Week

The Eagle Varsity Boys Basketball team has found victories a rare commodity this season and last week was no exception. McKenzie lost at home to Eddyville Charter, 33-47, on Tuesday, January 30, and dropped a tough road game against Siletz Valley, 33-37, on Thursday, February 1. McKenzie Boys Head Coach Neil Barrett and the crew returned home to host Triangle Lake on Saturday, February 3, but the Lakers added to the Eagle woes with a 47-74 drubbing. Eagle freshman Rhys Hamlow led his team against Siletz Valley, scoring a double-double with 10 pts and 11 rebounds. Hamlow was also the leading Eagle scorer in the Triangle Lake contest, dropping in 12 pts.
