McKenzie Valley Long Term Recovery Group is seeking an Executive Director

McKenzie River area, eventually burning some 170,000 acres and causing catastrophic damage to homes, businesses, infrastructure, and the environment. The communities of Blue River and Vida were both hit especially hard and were almost complete losses. All told, approximately 500 homes were damaged or destroyed and 1,000 individuals displaced.

A Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG) is a cooperative body that is made up of representatives from faith-based, non-profit, government, business and other organizations working within a community to assist individuals and families as they recover from disaster. Recovery is not only about the restoration of structures, systems, and services, although they are critical. A successful recovery is also about individuals and families being able to rebound from their losses, and sustain their physical, social, economic, and spiritual well-being.

The Executive Director holds ultimate responsibility for the day-to-day running of the organization. S/he follows the strategic vision and direction set by the Board. This person is a builder, a manager par excellent, a community leader, and a visionary. They see opportunities and act on them as they simultaneously remove obstacles. They have a fundamental understanding and appreciation for community involvement and can move ideas to action. The primary goal of the managing director is to constantly be moving towards fulfilling the MVLTRG’s short-term and long-term objectives without diverging from its mission.

The MVLTRG Executive Director must possess strong relational, leadership, and communication skills; the ability to work independently; and a demonstrated understanding of the resources that recovery partners can provide. The Executive Director must be profoundly inclusive and committed to community-led recovery.
