    Monday night, September 6, the McKenzie Community came together, impressively, to commemorate the Holiday Farm Fire which burned and overturned our beautiful River Valley and lives. The procession of around 50 emergency and personal vehicles and over one hundred residents, staged at the old Rustic Skillet and Harbick's Country Inn parking lots, just East of where the Fire allegedly first ignited.     McKenzie Athletic Director Fred Heins announced the cancellation of the Eagle’s Varsity Volleyball season this week and the probability that Varsity Football will also not occur. Lack of student/athletes showing up for opening practices and no coaches applying for the Varsity and Middle School Volleyball Coaching positions were the primary reasons for the cancellation of the Volleyball season.     Ten McKenzie High School students recently completed a Restoration Class in which they had the opportunity to help their local community recover from the Holiday Farm Fire. The grant funded program featured completion of local service projects and watershed education provided by the McKenzie Watershed Council, in partnership with McKenzie High School in sponsoring the class.     Valor Family Farm and Cascade Relief Team are hosting a tree planting event this weekend, June 4 to June 6. Valor Family Farm owners Wes Ross and Jenny Stewart have over 10,000 conifer seedlings (and possibly several thousand more) that need to be planted immediately to survive. The seedlings were overstock from a nursery in Jefferson and were headed for landfill disposal until Ross decided to plant and hold them over on his farm.
