Silence from Pols

I have tried numerous times to ask Darin Harbick (representative - House District 12), Jake Pelroy (running for county commissioner against Heather Buch), Monica DeSpain (running against Val Hoyle) and Christine Drazen (running for governor), if they support President Trump with his 34 felony convictions and pedophile accusations, ICE, his Middle East war, and economic, forestry and energy policies and NO ONE has had the integrity to address any of these questions.

I request that all responsible voters demand answers to these critically important questions before ever considering voting for these obstructionists.

Our democracy and constitution are too important to leave in the hands of those who undermine the basic spirit and intent of our county and constitution.

They will never get my vote. And I hope not yours either.

McKenzie Community Chorus Board of Directors “On Board”

Since January, the Organizing Committee for McKenzie Community Chorus has worked to form a framework to support this new organization. On 8/17/26 the committee disbanded, passing the organization’s reins to its newly formed Board of Directors.

MCC’s Board members include Gerry Aster, Larry Brown, Jamie Seimanski, Cindy Tofflemoyer, and Mark Huisenga. Jamie will serve as choral director. Janet Savage and Brown will provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals and performances.

It is finally time for Chorus members to gather, now that Articles of Incorporation are in place, the state of Oregon recognizes the Chorus as a registered non-profit, the bylaws have been adopted, the website (mckenziechorus.com) is active, and the treasurer has initiated the process to secure federal non-profit status.

On Wednesday, September 9th at 6:30p.m. all interested community members aged 13 and older are invited to the Chorus’ orientation and first rehearsal. McKenzie Bible Fellowship has generously offered its space (and piano) to the Chorus for its Wednesday rehearsals and MCC’s inaugural community concert scheduled for Friday evening, 12/4/26 at Mckenzie Bible Fellowship. A second concert will take place on the afternoon of 12/6/26 at McKenzie Valley Presbyterian Church.

Singing as a group has well documented social, emotional, and physical benefits. You do not need former voice training or the ability to read music. The Choral Director will guide members along the way through instruction and practice.

Join your friends and neighbors in this rewarding, joy-filled activity. And, if you are looking for a low-intensity volunteer opportunity, the Chorus needs help with staffing its four committees: Operations, Publicity, Fundraising & Donor Development, and Board Recruitment & Training.
